I recently talked to a discouraged new mom not wanting to do a newborn photography session because she didn’t like “those unnatural poses for babies”. She was referring to the froggie pose, the one where baby holds her own heavy head on their little arms 🐸. I don’t blame her, I don’t like it either. Not only I don’t find it cute, if not done correctly, it can be harmful and even dangerous. So, I decided to write about THE ART OF NATURAL POSING NEWBORNS for my future moms.
Honestly, it has been a really easy journey for me to naturally gravitate into the art of natural posing newborns. I look back at my early years photographing newborns and I see my preference even then. I have done posed newborn photographs and I will probably continue to do so. Posed newborn photographs are cute, don’t get me wrong, BUT the photographs that really tugs my heart are the REAL, organic, gentle, TIMELESS newborn poses photographs. Here’s a NATURAL POSING NEWBORNS example from more than ten years ago!
If you are like me you will love this genuine, baby focussed, minimal and timeless reasons why I do natural posing photographs for newborns.
