Victoria Reign, A Day Dreaming Session

I love fantasy, make-believe, and imaginative worlds, thus, the Day Dreaming session was created. These sessions are so much fun! At pre-consultation, I get to talk to this beautiful and talented young artist, Victoria. She showed me her drawings and sketches, and I instantly got inspired by her art. She spoke my language! She is not a conventional “follow the crowd” kind of girl. She has a confident strong point of view, she knows her likes and dislikes, she knows who she is… and she has parents who have encouraged in her a critical and independent mind. And WOW, what a shoot we had!
I knew I wanted to portray her with her art, easels, paintbrushes, canvases, frames, ect., but the more I talked to her the more interesting the shoot was turning. You see, she loves to read, and with reading her world is NOT contained or limited to our here and now. So we took a trip; a trip to fantasy, make-believe, and imaginative worlds…a trip to Day Dreaming session! I presented her with an “inspiration board” where I pushed the limits of what could be done in a session and she loved it!
My inspiration was the tv series “Reign”, a historical fiction of Mary, Queen of Scotts. The locations, cinematography, and the gowns, and the jewelry are exquisite. I have a couple of dresses and items I know I can use for shoots. This luxurious embroidered red gown was the perfect look for Victoria’s strong warrior, but feminine and graceful personality. It doesn’t hurt to throw a red cape and a sword for drama.
The last look was just pure art. I love the ethereal and almost mischievous beauty and elegance of the outfit on her.
Each girl has their own personality, her own world. Each girl is different, unique, and beautiful. And like her mom told me as she hugged me after seeing her daughter’s photographs: “I love them all, you captured her!” She made my day…
