To the mama who feels like she missed it, maybe you’ve been thinking it’s too late. That the tiny, curled-up newborn stage has already passed… and with it, your chance to have those first newborn photographs.

But I want you to hear this gently—you didn’t miss it. Those early days after birth are exhilarating and often times, a blur. A mix of emotions. A newly discovered love you never knew before blends with all the exhaustion it comes with it.
You were healing.
You were navigating sleepless nights, learning your baby, learning yourself all over again.
Maybe feeding was harder than expected. Maybe your birth didn’t go as planned.
Maybe you didn’t feel like yourself yet… or like being seen at all.
Or maybe, in the middle of it all, you simply thought you had more time. And then the days passed. Not because you didn’t care—but because you were doing something far more important.
You were being a mom. You were present. You were soaking it all in and that means you didn’t miss anything.

I know lots of photographers will tell you you missed that newborn stage for photographs. They’re wrong. It was always so convenient for them because they were more asleep and “easier” to handle them into positions and buckets they now don’t fit into.
Your baby may not be as tiny as those first few days—but they are still so, so little. They still fit in your arms. They’re still all yours.

And guess what? They’re more awake now. They’re more expressive. They’re more them.
Their little personalities and quirks are showing up. Now they LOOK at you and SMILE and your heart just melt. These are the moments that deserve to be remembered too.

I don’t believe in perfect timelines or rigid windows. I believe in love and connection.
In preserving what is real and meaningful—exactly as you are, right now. There is no pressure for your baby to sleep perfectly. No expectation for you to have it all together. Just space… to slow down, to hold your baby, and to be immerse in the love you feel.

Because one day, you won’t look back and wish your baby was younger in these photos.
You’ll just be grateful you didn’t let this moment pass you by.

So if you’ve been wondering if it’s too late…
it’s not.
I would be honored to capture this chapter for you—just as it is.
With so much understanding,
MarElly
