“May my children look back on today and see a mom who had time to play. There will be years for cleaning and cooking but children grow up while we are not looking.” A Mother’s Prayer
I have been doing “at-home” family sessions for a while now. I always end up saying in every post after the session, “the more I do them the more I like them!” Why? Because they are the real thing…
Documentary photography gives a family a day to celebrate their love, remind them again of the strong connection they share, of the silly yet wonderous everyday things that makes your family unique yours.
Oh, and how quickly these unprecedented days have given us the REALITY CHECK. An opportunity to make a checklist, prioritize, and focus on the things of most value in our lives; health, human lives, and family.
Now more than ever I see the beauty of documentary “at-home” sessions. There is beauty in the ordinary everyday, extraordinary love without measure!
Big Boy Turns ONE
I flew to Miami to do a “day with us” session for this beloved family for their precious little boy’s first birthday. I documented their perfect day activities from book reading baby’s favorite book, nursery toys playing, snack time, bedtime cuddles, nap time, pier-marina walking, monkey bars-park climbing, all the way to birthday bashing to bath time splashing! It was a wholesomely perfect day and one they will visit again in years to come. All those memories rushing in as they turn each page of their Day in the Life storybook.
My Fur Big Sis
She is ADORABLE with her baby brother and she will always find a way to a good lick while he passionately stuffs his face eating his favorite snack.
…and sometimes he doesn’t appreciate her licking his hands.
A Stroll by the Marina
Living to a walking distance to the marina they took him on a ride in his little red car. Miami is a gorgeous place even in overcast weather.
The day’s adventure will continue on the next blog post. There are so many more treasured moments to share about their perfect day. Playtime at the park, big one circus birthday that ended with a messy cake smash, and wet hugs and splashes in the tub. Oh, and wait until you see the circus’ lion! It was a day full of authentic, wonderful, together moments of the time their baby boy turned one.
Baby D is going to grow up. The toys he loves now, his beautifully decorated baby room will also change through the years as he grows up. But the memories captured in their perfect “First Birthday” day will be there to revisit when he’s older.
I only wish for many other families to understand the importance of making memories of their perfect day now.
