Oh, how much I love Winnie The Pooh and his many adventures in the Hundred Acre Woods! It has always been one of my favorite children’s classic storybooks to read to my children when they were little. Since I specialize in childhood storybook sessions, I don’t know why it took me so long to do a Winnie The Pooh-inspired Storybook Session! I’ll tell you all about the session but let me first tell you about the little boy who came to play! I met my very own Christopher Robin adventure friend!
Also, celebrating Winnie the Pooh’s and characters public domain in 2022. Perfect timing!
When I met him, I “saw” a Christopher Robin-kind-of-child. The way he moved, and his calm demeanor reminded me of those nostalgic drawing and illustrations from A.A. Milne’s books. I knew I met my Christopher Robin. I didn’t know of how incredible accurate he would resemble him. I can just outline some of these photographs and I’ll have an illustration from the book.
He is inquisitive, tender hearted, and like many four-year-old boys, loves going on adventures. Adventure and imagination are the heart of these Storybook sessions and little Mr M. was my adventure buddy. All I had to ask him was “ready for the next adventure?” and he was all for it!
REAL PLAY-NO CHEESE!
Storybook sessions are play sessions! Kids will come to have an amazing experience while being photographed in their dream world of imagination. The story (or set) is inspired in their own play-pretend world and, many times, is a meaningful story to the family. For this little boy, Winnie the Pooh honors his British heritage. I’m sure his grandparents were overjoyed to see their grandson “come to life” in one of England’s most beloved stories.
I obsessed about styling and designing for my sessions. It took me a while, but I was incredibly lucky to find the perfect vintage wool jacket in his size and perfect blue! I will admit that I screamed a little when I received it. It couldn’t be more perfect!
All friends were invited to the tea party.
Eeyore was pleased Christopher and Pooh took the time to help repair his house.
This is one of my favorite photographs of the session because I can still hear him talking to his friends.
We played a good “haycorn” game. Eeyore was playing too and not in the water. (He was grateful.)
Here it is to many more adventures in life, like soon becoming a BIG BROTHER!!! But for now, we celebrate you for being the amazing little boy you are. I always wonder what these memories mean to you when you’re old.
There is only one childhood! How are you preserving these fleeting childhood memories?
