Up to Neverland! A Peter Pan-Inspired Session by Happy Thoughts Studio
How to get to Neverland? “Second star to the right and straight on ’til morning”
I consider myself a childhood photographer. My heart and desire are to capture and preserve kids’ innocence and imagination through simple artistic images that will provoke in you an insatiable desire to see them again and again, to make you fall madly in love and wonder with your child, and to stir up your own lost little child inside of you. I have found that the key to this fantastic realm is through kids’ imagination. I’m in awe of how a child’s daydream can take us into that amazing world. That’s what I want to photograph; childhood!
That’s probably why Peter Pan has always been one of my favorite children’s books. The idea of not wanting to let go of childhood and innocence and imagination drives me, and photography has been the best way to accomplish just that. Thus gather some pixie dust, think Happy Thoughts, and fly Up to Neverland for this amazing adventure!
When you commission me to photograph your children, we start a fun creative process. The creative process starts with your child’s favorite daydream, it could be a fantasy, play pretend, or a storybook. From the selection of the right props to the storyboards or inspiration boards to the outfits, to the actual day of the session, no detail is overlooked! The creative process continues then on the selection of just the right way to display your art. We offer a variety of exquisite products to display your images.
P.S. There are some pretty neat custom-made items in this session like the hand-painted Neverland map by a very talented young artist I know who rediscovered the passion for painting again when I commissioned him to do this map for the shoot. The hand-painted wooden label this little boy’s mom bought it on Etsy, The cool compass with the book quote too. As for the outfits I wanted real leather pieces in different greenish earth tones. I was so happy when I found just the right material and color pallet. I created both looks, Peter Pan’s outfit and Captain Hook’s red jacket that so perfectly helps create the story when Peter prevails. And Tinker Belle? Let’s say she has a cameo in this shoot 🙂
Tinker Belle’s house on a tree. Peter has to awaken her by playing his pan pipes.
And so he did…
There is only one childhood, let’s keep it in forever photographs!
