Family love is one of my favorite things to photograph. The emotions that flow from smiles, hugs, and kisses that capture everyone’s heart, specially mine <3 And capturing a special time for the Agdamag’s has captured my heart indeed. We all enjoyed their family fun at the beach!
It went from hearing Phineas (age 4) referring to his little sister as “sweet pea”, to seeing Psalm (age 18 months) purposely making her 3 month old baby sister smile so she could take a picture with the toy camera. I simply enjoyed their family interaction as they showed their love for each other. This family has something very special: LOVE! …AND absolutely gorgeous babies! 🙂
Yep, I try to get very involved with the little subjects I’m photographing. I have the privilege of been invited to be part of the family’s intimate affectional relationship when I’m booked for a session, but then I have to get invited into the kids imaginative or playful world and I have to earn it. It is extremely important for me to connect with them because that’s when magic happens! They will give me the most “deep-intense-straight-to-the-soul” kind of look that I love, or they will give me the little teaser inviting expression of “look what I’m doing”, and more often of course, the big beautiful smile that melts anybody’s heart…specially mom’s and dad’s 🙂
A client once described her photo session as “personal” and that word filled my heart…it is personal! I have use it many times to somewhat describe my style. That’s why for me it’s important to connect with the people I’m photographing. Their little “personal”ities will show in the pictures.
A colorful teepee at the beach is an inviting place for kids to let go their imaginations and have fun while “working” at the photographs. It is an experience they will probable remember and talk about it for some time, specially the exploring and giggles mommy and daddy shared with them that day!
In the end, it’s all about having a wonderfully fun and memorable experience of the day that mom and dad took time off of their daily routines and narrated through photographs of how they were at this time in their lives. Years from now, mom and dad will go back to this photographs and remember and remind them of this happy day! The time to enjoy them is while you still have them with you!

Time to go home! In this image Psalm is showing something she does whenever she is tired! What a great way to finish this day than to suck your middle finger while playing with your hair! Isn’t this adorable?
