When I first became a mom I read, no, I drank lots and lots of books about parenting, discipline and child rearing. I wanted to be a good mom! Most importantly, I didn’t want to mess up my poor child! Out of many good reads, and lots of insightful information, one prayer stood out and every time I read it evokes the same reaction as the first time I read it: TEARS!
Lord,
When they scribble on the walls, please help me see a rainbow!
And when I’ve said something a hundred times, please give me the patience to say it a hundred times more!
And on those particularly annoying days when I tell them to act their age, please help me to remember that they are!
And while we’re on the subject of age, Lord, when I begin to lose my temper, please help me to remember to act mine!
And through it all, Lord-the fingerprints and runny noses, messy rooms and unrolled toilet paper,
destroyed videotapes and broken knick knacks-please help me to remember this:
Someday, these will be the days I will long to have back again!.
Angela Thole, “A Mother’s Prayer”
I LOVE motherhood and all that that implies; the uncomfortable night sleep with little ones that snuck in your bed last night, but oh, the cuddling mornings next day. The many times you have to kiss a boo-boo, but the many times you received a kiss and a “I love you” back. The long hours, days, years of homeschooling them, but also seeing them become accomplished young adults. A mother’s legacy is forever!
So when thinking of a Mother’s Day session that best captured the essence of motherhood, I couldn’t be happier when I thought of a series of images though out the years of the blessings of “a Mother’s Legacy”. I have a lot of young moms that are just starting this journey, and I can imagine them documenting their journey in timeless, genuine and gorgeous fine art images as they see their kids grow up. I also have moms with moms, and there is no better way to honor our own mothers that to photograph them with our children and to celebrate three generations! The time to photograph your family is now, because just as the prayer reminds us, “Someday, these will be the days I will long to have back again!”
I hope this session will bless you and your family for generations to come!
Thank you to all my special clients for sharing and celebrating motherhood with me!
